Opening Summer 2026

The Harriman, A Viceroy Resort

Sun Valley, Idaho

Opening Summer of 2026, Viceroy is proud to announce the debut of The Harriman, A Viceroy Resort, rising at the gateway entrance to downtown Ketchum, Idaho–the historic walkable heart of North America’s first all-season destination mountain resort, Sun Valley. Named in honor of W. Averell Harriman, the visionary pioneer and Chairman of the Union Pacific Railroad who shaped, built and opened the Sun Valley Resort in 1936, The Harriman pays tribute to his bold vision and lasting influence on American Alpine and Nordic skiing culture.

The Harriman, A Viceroy Resort will offer 73 guest rooms and 12 single-level penthouse residences, all with sweeping views of Idaho’s Rocky Mountains. Guests and owners will enjoy an elevated level of personalized service and an extensive amenity suite, including a full-service spa, fitness center, an indoor thermal pool, cold plunge, sauna, and steam rooms. A state-of-the-art rooftop observatory and outdoor terrace bar will provide unobstructed access to the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve, the first designated preserve of its kind in the U.S. and one of only 12 globally.

A render of Viceroy Sun Valley

Envisioned as a gathering place for both guests and locals, a curated food and beverage program will feature a variety of distinct concepts including a restaurant, bar, café and ski concierge, seasonal terrace bar, and meeting spaces. Throughout all concepts, strong partnerships with local purveyors, including ranchers, fisherman, and farmers aim to celebrate the region’s highest quality Idaho-sourced ingredients.

The world-class design team includes John Davis of Hornberger+Worstell, Mark de Reus and Chris Strahle of de Reus Architects, and Fatima Silva of FDG Design Group–a collaboration deeply attuned to the regional aesthetic of the Wood River Valley.

Through Viceroy’s distinct lens on modern hospitality, The Harriman promises an immersive, authentic experience to its guests and local community in one of the country’s most storied year-round mountain destinations.
