Throughout the Algarve you will see woven mats, baskets, decorative and utilitarian objects, and even sandals made from Esparto – a strong fiber produced from a perennial grass native to Portugal. In this workshop led by experienced local artisans from Loulé, an initiative dedicated to preserving the traditional arts and crafts of the region, you will learn the art of Esparto grass-weaving and create your own unique piece to bring home.
